First I wanted to comment that the Paprika program is ab fab for saving recipes you find online and then *actually being able to find and use them*. It's lovely.
That being said I fired up my laser for the first time in a month or two and made some functional art (which is my favourite kind :-) I'm building a guitar chord practice neck - it's only 5 frets long, has real strings, and is wonderful when you still want to practice but are taking a trip where a guitar is a bit too much for the packing space :-D
I would love to see the guitar chord, practice neck! I haven’t been able to play my guitar in over 15 years because of arthritis and tendinitis in my hands and fingers. I’ve had nine operations on my poor little fingers. This sounds like it’s something that I might be able to play with.
I hugged a huge, historic sycamore tree on Sunday. During the hike beautiful asters, wingstem, boneset, and snakeroot were blooming. The leaves here in Ohio are starting to change. Poison ivy and Virginia creeper are turning burgundy and the paw paw leaves are bright lemon.
Last night I was researching the new flip phones that give you essential apps like directions & text messages, but have no browser, no social media and no AI. It helps you stay focused and removes the possibility of losing time doom scrolling. I like this new movement toward using less tech on our phones - seems freeing somehow! Thanks for the update. I'm in Florida too and definitely waiting for some cooler temps! 🙂
I decoupaged a box turtle shell I found this past weekend, and it turned out beautifully! I wish I could post a pic of it. I very much enjoy using what nature has given me and making it beautiful again.
On the weekend, I did a water colour tutorial of a crow and made it as 4 postcards to send to friends. Are they masterpieces? No 😆 But I am still excited to out them into the mail and send off!

I can't add images to this thread for whatever reason, but you can see it here 😊

It's great for practicing positioning, but doesn't have a good sound. I wonder if there are electronic mini guitars you'd be able to play...
I checked it out it’s $12.99 for the paprika app 🥺
The phone is definitely cheaper than the PC - and they do run sales, but yeah there is a cost. I found it to be completely worthwhile. :-)
We painted rock pumpkins today!

Did I miss the October field guide?
Hi! I’m wondering when the October field guide is coming out? We are having our next meeting on Tuesday the 20th and would love to have it! Thanks!
A reminder that October 15 is world Mushroom Day. I have a Mushroom Bingo card on my substack since there is no way to post the graphic here. Enjoy.
